Riding the awards Wave

In our first entry to the prestigious Wave Cruise Awards, it has been announced this week (12 August) that Portsmouth International Port has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Port’ category for this year’s upcoming event.
Taking place in London on the 16 November, The Wave Awards 2022 celebrates the best in the business, rewarding excellence across the cruise sector. In partnership with Fred Olsen Cruises, the ‘Oscars of cruising’ is judged by a panel of cruise and travel experts and recognises cruise lines, travel agents, tourist boards and port’s. After what has been a testing couple of years for the travel industry, entries for this year’s awards hit a record high, putting the best of the best against each other across a range of categories.
This nomination comes hot off the heels of the port’s shortlist for ‘Port of the Year’ at the Seatrade Cruise Awards, in what has proved a busy week for the cruise awards industry.
Andrew Williamson, passenger operations manager, said: “I am immensely proud of our team, partners and customers, who’s ambition and drive are being recognised on an international level. Every nomination and shortlist is a significant nod to the success and progress we have made as a port in such a short space of time, as we put Portsmouth firmly on the UK cruise map.
We are looking forward to attending The Wave Awards later in the year, and returning to Seatrade Med in September, as these events get back into full swing.”
