Port open day

We are excited to announce that we will be opening up the port for a community open day on Saturday 15 October, as part of Maritime UK Week 2022.

Maritime UK Week aims to highlight the essential role that maritime plays in the UK. Responsible for enabling 95% of the UK’s global trade, maritime touches every part of our lives. As an island nation, during the pandemic, the maritime sector’s key workers kept the UK supplied with food, energy and medicine. Now, as we move toward a greener industry, the sector is investing and growing all around the UK.

Portsmouth International Port is already a significant contributor to both the local and national economy, and a critical industry for many businesses in the supply chain.

We’re also a major UK port, with links stretching as far north as the fisheries in the Scottish Highlands heading to the
continent, critical freight to the Channel Islands and tropical fruit from South America and the Caribbean.

Millions of passengers of travel to France, Spain and a thriving cruise industry that is expected to welcome over 100,000 travellers in the next few years.

At the community open day there will be talks, port tours, exhibitions from port partners, interactive activities and lots of family fun where you can find out about the above, and more including  the port’s 20 year Masterplan, and also our ambitions to reach net-zero by 2030, alongside becoming the UK’s first zero-emission port by 2050.

Full details are to come, but you can register your interest now and be amongst the first to be able to book free tickets.
