Important guidance

There are no parking facilities for import freight vehicles at Portsmouth International Port.

There are strict parking conditions in force which are stringently enforced at all times. The following parking charges will be applied where applicable. All prices shown are inclusive of VAT.

Parking charges for driver-accompanied freight vehicles

Figures below apply from 1 April 2024. For more rates please see the 2024 dues, rates and charges booklet.

Parking of driver-accompanied vehicles within the Port’s restricted area without permission is not permitted. Please contact the Duty Traffic Supervisor for permission and charges.

Parking charges for all abnormal and out of gauge loads (accompanied and unaccompanied) will be applicable. For all imports the charges will apply after an initial 12 hour grace period taken from the actual time of arrival from the vessel from which the load is discharged. For all exports the charges will apply after an initial 12 hour grace period taken from the load’s actual time of arrival on site.

Escort vehicles for out of gauge loads or abnormal loads travelling through the port are not permitted on the site in excess of 12 hours prior to an import units arrival or beyond 2 hours after a unit for export arrives at the Port. This remains at the discretion of the Port Authorities. For further details please contact the Traffic Supervisor.

Any unauthorised vehicle (including any vehicle not classified as a frustrated export or import) parked within the restricted area shall be subject to a charge as follows:

Vehicles parked for more than one hour will be charged from the time of arrival at the following rate: £11.00 per hour or part thereof (subject to VAT).

Demurrage charges

The Port Director gives permission for un-accompanied freight to include frustrated exports and import trailers not collected to park on payment of the following charges.

Over 24 hours:

  • EU traffic: £15.00 per day/or part thereof
  • British Isles traffic (inc Channel Islands): £50.00 per day/or part thereof
  • Rest of the world traffic: price upon application

*50% discount for freight cars (All charges subject to VAT)

Tractor unit parking
  • Less than 25 hours: free
  • 25 – 73 hours: £42.50 per day/or part thereof
  • Over 73 hours: £85.00 per day/or part thereof

The costs above are subject to VAT.

Temperature controlled examination facility

Any units utilizing the cold store facility for United Kingdom Border Agencies, Port Health or Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs examination or personal use, will incur a charge of £22.00 per hour for a period of up to 6 hours and £160.00 per day if storage exceeds 6 hours. The charge will include the cost of electricity consumed.

Euro conversion rate will be at the rate published on the Parking Charge Form.

Portsmouth Truckstop has been operating successfully for over 30 years from its base at Walton Road, Farlington. Parking facilities are completely fenced and secured ensuring all overnight and weekend loads are safe. Spaces are limited so please contact them to book in.
